Jamie O’Hara has suggested to Gareth Southgate to do one thing with Arsenal star Bukayo Saka that has already been proven to be a bad idea.....CLICK HERE TO READ FULL ARTICLES

The 22-year-old winger played the entire 120 minutes for England last night against Slovakia as Saka played three positions for the Three Lions in what was a tense fixture, with Jude Bellingham scoring a 96th-minute equaliser before Harry Kane bagged the winner in extra-time.

With Arsenal fans impressed with what they saw from Saka on the night, the England star was overall impressive against Slovakia, especially with the winger being played at left-back for some minutes before returning to his more favoured right-hand side.

Yet former Tottenham man O’Hara has urged Southgate to try one thing against Switzerland regarding Saka.

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit made the suggestion again that Saka should play at left-back against Switzerland, even with the Arsenal man clearly proving that he’s better out on the right and playing in a more advanced role.

With Cole Palmer making little impact from the bench against Slovakia, Saka’s claim to the right-wing position has arguably never been stronger this Euros, yet that hasn’t stopped the likes of O’Hara from making the call to push the Arsenal man back into defence.

“I would slot Saka there. I see it now. I know he doesn’t want to play there, but at the end of the day, you have got to take one for the team.

“Luke Shaw is not fit. He is not fit. If you play Gomez there, you have the same problem you have got with Trippier. So, you might as well play Saka. Saka is not doing enough out on the right. Cole Palmer looked tonight that he needs to start for England. So, play him on the right, play Saka left-back.”

Saka/left-back debate should be dead and buried after Slovakia performance

Saka’s versatility was on full show last night for England as the Arsenal star went from right-wing to left-back to right-wingback in a matter of minutes, with the 22-year-old lasting the entire 120 minutes in Gelsenkirchen.

Looking dynamic and powerful down the right in patches, it’s clear that Saka’s best football last night came from his more preferred side of the pitch, and given how quickly it took Gareth Southgate to change his mind on playing the winger at left-back, it’s clear that the debate is all-but over.

Indeed, Saka will be at right-wing for England for the remainder of the tournament, and against Switzerland, the Arsenal man will really want to show what he’s capable of having only managed one assist at Euro 2024.
