Chelsea’s pursuit of a new striker this summer has hit a few snags, with one player who was expected to join the club ruled out as reported by Chelsea Chronicle.

While the Blues have secured the signing of Liam Delap, they are still in the market for another forward to bolster their attacking options.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Joao Pedro, who has expressed interest in joining Chelsea, appears to be the frontrunner, with his availability hinging on a suitable offer.

Chelsea have also been linked with other strikers like Viktor Gyokeres and Jhon Duran.

However, it seems unlikely that either will make the move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Journalist Simon Phillips revealed that Chelsea has decided against bringing Duran back to England, despite previous interest.

The club reportedly rejected the chance to re-sign the Colombian striker, who moved to Al-Nassr from Aston Villa in a £71m deal earlier this year.

Duran’s time in Saudi Arabia has seen him make an immediate impact, netting 12 goals in 18 appearances for Al-Nassr.

Nonetheless, Chelsea’s concerns over his character led them to reconsider their pursuit.

At present, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca appears content with his current forward lineup, although that could change if Nicolas Jackson departs.

Jackson, who is reportedly drawing attention from Arsenal, may still leave Stamford Bridge, which could force Chelsea to reconsider their striker search in the near future.

For now, Chelsea’s transfer business seems focused elsewhere as they continue to weigh their options.
